About the Liver Health Awareness Center
Why we created the Centers, who we are, and who we work with.
Why we exist
Fatty liver disease is the most common chronic liver condition in the world — and most people who have it don't know. It is silent, it is linked to the metabolic conditions that disproportionately affect lower-income and racialized communities, and it is largely preventable and reversible when caught early.
The Liver Health Awareness Center was created to close the gap between the scale of this problem and the awareness of it. We bring free, non-invasive liver health assessments directly into communities at elevated risk — removing the barriers of cost, referral, and access that prevent early detection.
Our goal is simple: give people the information they need to protect their liver health, before damage becomes irreversible.
An initiative of the Fatty Liver Alliance
The Liver Health Awareness Center is an initiative of the Fatty Liver Alliance — a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by fatty liver disease through education, advocacy, and community programs.
The Fatty Liver Alliance operates fattyliver.ca, one of the most comprehensive patient-facing educational resources on MASLD and MASH in Canada and the United States.

Community partners
The Liver Health Awareness Center works with community health organizations, federally qualified health centers, and academic medical partners to bring liver health screening to the communities that need it most. We are grateful to our partners in East Harlem and Toronto for their collaboration and trust.
